This Weekend: ‘Friday Night Live’ and fun in the VOSJCC pool

What are your plans this weekend? Here are some ideas:

Friday, June 1

Friday Night Live: “Friday Night Live,” a musical Shabbat  service led by Rabbi Tracee Rosen and Scott Leader and his band, begins at 7:15 p.m. at Temple Gan Elohim.

Sunday, June 3

Fun Day Sunday at the JCC: 11 a.m.-2 p.m.: Summer is definitely here. Cool off with games, a water slide and ice-cold lemonade at the Valley of the Sun Jewish Community Center, where the JCC’s aquatics staff will lead an afternoon of activities.

Celebrate the Levertovs: 10 a.m. at the Arizona Biltmore: Beth Joseph Congregation and the Phoenix Hebrew Academy are honoring Rabbi Zalman and Tzipi Levertov during brunch. The Levertovs founded Chabad of Arizona in 1977 and now there are 16 Chabad centers across the state. To learn more about this history of Chabad in Arizona, read this story from the organization’s 25th anniversary.

Note: The film event hosted by Arizona Jewish Top 40 (JTF), featuring the private screening of “The Yankles,” that was scheduled for June 3 has been postponed to July 15. Visit the  Arizona Jewish Top 40 (“JTF”) Facebook page for updates.
